Challenges for Members 2026-2027

Each year, the Chair sets an exciting challenge for our members, encouraging them to explore new techniques, experiment with different fabrics, and share their learning with others. Whether working individually or collaboratively, this is a fantastic opportunity to spark creativity and try something new!

The challenge year runs from March to February, culminating in a special Show & Tell event in early 2027.

2026- 2027 Challenges and How to Take Part

July 2026 – Summer Supper Mini Challenge

For this challenge, members are invited to use scraps and a paper adding machine roll to create a bag, cushion or anything you wish. The paper rolls are free and available at meetings.   An email with detailed instructions is sent to all members. 

• Deadline: 8th July 2026 (submit in person or via email)
• Participation Reward: All entries will be entered into a reward draw, with three lucky participants receiving a special sewing gift! Members' Choice at the Summer Supper. 

February 2027 – Main Challenge: "Challenge In a Bag"

The idea is straightforward. You start with a theme, an initial piece of work and some fabric. 

Once started, the bag is passed around the group, and you won’t see your project again for several months. The accompanying notebook allows you to explain what you’re hoping for and set out any “rules” or guidance. What comes back is often a joyful surprise. 
I would suggest groups of 4-6 and you will need you get your project back in good time to complete the assembly, quilting and binding.
